DeviceLock® at a glance:
DeviceLock features and benefits
Access Control:
This enables the easy definition of access rights for a device type or device group and the definition of user rights and times (day and time).
USB-Whitelist:
This can be used to enable a specific device model access via the USB interface, whilst any other device models cannot be accessed. It is even possible to put this single device on the whitelist whilst locking out all other devices of the same model of the same manufacturer. DeviceLock allows any conceivable whitelisting strategy that is required by your security officer.
Media-Whitelist:
With the help of the data signature, it is possible for a single CD-ROM or DVD to clearly identify and authorize access, even if the CD / DVD drive of DeviceLock is otherwise blocked from access. Any changes made to the content of the medium will change the data signature and thus loses its validity.
Printer monitoring:
DeviceLock is able to monitor all types of printers, and through the Data Shadowing of all printing processes -even from virtual devices – to store a copy in a database.
Data Shadowing:
Allows mirroring of all copied data from external storage devices (hard drives, removable media, floppy disks), CD / DVD devices and ports (serial and parallel). It will ensure a complete copy of the data and will be stored in a SQL database on request.
Windows Mobile access control, logging, and reflection:
For palmtops and Windows Mobile PDAs and smartphones that use the Microsoft ActiveSync protocol through local ports and interfaces such as USB, COM, IrDA, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, finely grained access control, logging and mirroring rules are laid down. ActiveSync allows the control center and flexible definition of data types that can be synchronized to each user or user group between corporate PCs and private Windows Mobile devices. These data types can include files, images, calendar, e-mails, tasks, notes, and other objects with ActiveSync protocol. In addition, administrators can deploy the logging and mirroring of files and other data that is exchanged between PCs and Windows Mobile PDA devices.
Group Policy / Active Directory integration:
Various DeviceLock management consoles are available, including the possibility of defining and controlling DeviceLock permissions using the standard Windows Group Policy Editor. This allows administrators to integrate the configuration of DeviceLock access rights into their general system-management tasks.
Audit:
All user actions on devices and files (read, copy, delete, etc.) as well as changes in the DeviceLock settings can be logged.
Protection of the DeviceLock Service: A user with local administrator privileges can not stop the DeviceLock Service or disable it, if this key in the console has been set.
